This is definitely a Wy'east football game in Odell. The girl in the front is Myrtle “Mert” Williams. She was quite a little cheerleader as I recall. They were all somewhat older than myself. I think that I might know who two of the others were, but will wait and see if there are those that actually went to school then who can identify them for certain. Wyeast was established in 1952 and I am thinking that this had to have been about 1953 or 1954.
Maybe #26 and #31 will respond or someone will know who they were.

I love it when we get first hand memories from the locals. I miss Buzz and his comments.
Thanks Charlott.

our brother John W. went to Wy'East upon opening as a freshman and was pretty proud of being in the first four year 1955 graduating class much. this “blue dragon” was never very impressed.

Not sure there will be a high school football program this year. Things still seem to be up in the air. My grandson is practicing football at his college, but is unsure they will have a season.

Sooooooooooooooooooo sorry Arlen you weren't impressed. I wasn't impressed with the “Blue Dragons:” either but then I married one. We played Hood River and Wyeast football all the time….

That is Myrtle Williams, for sure. I can't identify the rest, but in 1952 there were 5 cheerleaders identified in the annual, they were: Myrtle, Sharon Webster, Barbara Dorsey, Pauline Fletcher, and Jeanette Sargeant. I'm sure 26 and 36 can straighten this out.

Did Jeanette Seargent take tap dancing lessons from Fredova Kruger with you, Charlott?
I remember a performance by a girl with a similar name. She danced on a surface of crunchy white sand, holding a huge wooden hoop that she stepped through and over. That seems like good practice for becoming a cheerleader.
