Historic Hood River
Ghosts of Hood River
7-19-2024

Notes
A couple of years ago I gave a talk entitled “The Ghosts of Hood River.” I described how every place I walk around our town I am reminded of historic images showing the people who once occupied those very same spaces. Since I scanned this image a couple of months ago this 110 year old specter from the Thompson family album appears every time I walk up 1st Street. All ghosts aren’t scary.
My favorite “friendly ghost” is this image of Malcolm Button playing trombone in the snow in front of what is now the Columbia Center For the Arts. After seeing that image, how can you not smile as you pass that spot on Cascade Avenue?

Loving the Hunts painted Sign about all things painting .
Clearly the hometown paint store.
I don’t think I’ve seen carriage painting advertised anywhere before?
