When Chris Dethman first came to the Bingen/White Salmon area, he slogged his way through wet snow to check out the Gilmer Valley and Camas Prairie area for a homestead. He decided against it and chose the Hood River area for his farm.
I am sure he counted his blessings every day for making that decision.
