This view from the west side of White Salmon should look pretty familiar even to modern eyes. The sign says “For Sale, 20 Acres. Extra Choice Bluff Property. Right in Price. C.C. Hutchins.” I wonder what the “Right Price” was circa 1915?

Just wish I had it at what it would have sold for them.
The man that was offering it was Homer H. Hutchins who lived in White Salmon until his death in 1961.

Charlott, I think the seller might be Charles C Hunt who was in real estate in White Salmon during this time.
I wonder if you were taxed for your view in those days?
I came across this photo by C.C. Hutchins of "Yakama Jake Hunt on horseback", taken in 1917.

This picture was taken at the top of West Winds Road just below Hwy 141. Keith Mc Coy author of MT. Adams Country used to live at the end of West Winds Rd on the bluff.

There is a book titled, "Apple Talk, "the King of Fruits", Recipes for 55 Ways to Serve the Apple".
It was published by C.C. Hutchins of White Salmon, WA. in 1914, with illustrations.
The book, "Guardians of the Columbia", has two photos by C.C. Hutchins. I think you can get this book as a free google Ebook.
Evidently C.C. Hutchins was a great promoter of the bridge across the Columbia and the road from Vancouver on the Washington side.
Of course, if he had land to sell, he needed a way for people to get to White Salmon.

The cost of an acre of land depended on where it was! Could be $1.00 to $50 and acre! You’d think that cliff land would be worthless…but then the view would probably raise the price considerably!
