Historic Hood River
First National Bank Building
11-4-2021

Notes
This is another nice early postcard from the Esson & Currin booklet of cards, showing the Smith Building, which housed the First National Bank at the time. Next door is W.F. Laraway’s jewelry store.

I though the First National Bank was always on the opposite corner. I learned something new. Thanks.
Too bad they did away with the bay windows.

They also did away with the parapet on the roof. However, the two bay windows on the West side (3rd Street) are still in place and I am sitting inside one of them as I type this. They are partially obscured by the trees in the modern photo below.

Grin! Thanks Jay for the " this is now " onsite update !

I always thought the First National Bank building is where Goodwill is now, with the broken clock outside. Did they move at some point? What is the approximate date of the image on the postcard?

If I remember correctly the First National Bank Building was built in 1910, which would be when they moved across the street.
