This illustration is a whirlwind of symbolism. It’s from the Hood River Glacier 1897 Holiday Supplement. Best wishes for a wonderful 1898– I mean 2015!
We have had a wonderful 2014 on this site, learning and sharing information. Have a wonderful New Year………

During this end of the year 2014 and beginning of 2015 I am down at the mouth of the Columbia River, watching the ocean from a comfortable house and the large ocean vessels crossing the bar to travel up the river. So many early pioneers traveled this same route to eventually arrive in the Hood River Valley to make their home. Traveling is so much easier now.
Thank you Arthur and Matt for bringing those early people to life for us.

And a special thank you to Arthur and Matt, to Charlotte and l.e. and the gathering of old timer locals who share to make this site so much more than just a picture. Blessings to you all and a happy and healthy new year.
