In the 1950s Lawrence or Joe Butterfield could provide everything you might need at the Mt. Hood Cash Store. Unfortunately the last general store at that location closed about ten years ago, but the building is still around.
There are still many homes around the Parkdale area which look like they might have been built by Phil Tyler.

Father, John L., of Roger and Arlen was born in a house not far from this store. His parents, John H. & Ella, ran a store in Parkdale until the depression.

That store was at the corner of highway 35 and the road into Parkdale. May also have had a post office

That’s the house Phil Tyler and family lived in and the family still own off Hwy 35-
Mrs Marin Tyler was a preschool teacher and we attended class there at their house. I remember drinking canned pineapple juice and graham crackers….

The roof slope on those Phil Tyler “western” homes looks a little flat for an area that gets a lot of rain and can have some deep snow dumps. Minimum 4 in 12 slope is typical for a standard shingle roof, maybe they were using flat roof materials, e.g. hot roll.

No it’s not.

That house looks a LOT like 2010 Prospect here in Hood River, before it recently got remodeled. I wonder if he designed it?
