Historic Hood River
Elder Brothers
2-23-2024

Notes
Rodger Nichols shared this fine image of his great-grandfather, John Elder (left) hunting with his brother Jay circa 1906. The photo was taken off what is now Elder Road on the ridge between the east Hood River Valley and Mosier. John owned the Mosier Hotel from 1914 until he was killed in a train accident in 1922.
You can learn quite a bit about the community which used to live up around Elder Road by reading the comments on this post of the Rose Hill School.

“See, see him….right through those trees on the right. There he is. He is under that crooked branch on the left side of the tree…”
I wish my boys could see this. They would be able to identify the rifles.
I hope they weren’t trying to farm this ground. Looks like a rock pile.
