Notes
This is the E.W. Gibbs house on East 4th Street, just above East Eugene. Mr. Gibbs was a professional builder, and is seen here posing with his wife and son Floyd. Floyd was in later years a local businessman and city councilman.
This house is remarkably unchanged in 107 years. Here’s a recent view. Only a few of the pine trees are left, but the house exterior is virtually the same.

This would be Eugene and Christina Gibbs. and their son was Francis Floyd who married Geogeanna Fisher. Christina was from Scotland and Eugene was from the midwest.
It appears that this was sort of the "end" of growth going up there hill, as doensn’t appear to be too much construction on up the hill.
We are fortunate that as many of the old homes have survived that have in both town and the valley.

I wonder if there are more HR homes still in existence that were built by Mr. Gibbs.

I enjoyed the "yesteryear and today" pictures. I see the fence is gone — maybe not enough Tom Sawyers to do the job.

bought this house from Dr. Jim Stager late 70’s, had Indian renters – the garage was converted to a smoke house, many stories with the history. Kids were ‘Tiger’, set bathroom on fire – Leo Phillips on the fire dept and worked for me said I owed the fire dept a bottle of whiskey for saving the house from the fire – I told him I would give a case of whiskey if he had let it burn down.

Wow. A lot of family history here. My Grandfather was F.F. Gibbs who of course was my Dad’s (W.E. "Bud" Gibbs who is now 88 years old) father. Have never seen any pictures of Christina or E.W. or their home(s). As told to me, E.W. was a very successful carpenter/ home mover/ home builder.
