Historic Hood River
E. A. Franz Home
7-6-2023

Notes
This fine old Hood River home hasn’t changed much in the past 90 years, though the vegetation on Oak Street blocks this view a bit. This is the E. A. Franz home at 1002 Oak Street. This image was taken in 1928.
Ernest and Dora Franz built this home in 1911, shortly after Ernest opened Franz Hardware in the Eliot Building at 2nd and Oak, and lived there until 1933.
You can read the Oregon state historical inventory form for more information.

Sad to report that we lost another reader & friend, Norma Jubitz Simpson, as she went to end of track earlier this week. Norma was the eldest daughter of Gilbert Jubitz and one of my, from grade 1, HRHS 59 classmates. RIP Norma!

I’m sorry Norma has left us, as she shared so much of her memories of the Hood River valley. She becomes part of our history, so sharing the Jubitz home is fitting for this day. RIP Norma.

Sorry for the loss Arlen.
We are gradually loosing the great memories, but I guess that is the way of life.
Thankfully some of those memories have been recorded here before they leave us.

So sorry to hear about Norma. It looks like she left us >250 comments to remember her by. I always enjoyed her gently poking at some of you guys in her observations.
