Historic Hood River

I do love old maps, especially hand-drawn ones. This is an original map filed April 14, 1892 identifying the irrigation company’s diversion of water from Dead Point Creek. It shows the path they took to get the water over to an old dry fork of Ditch Creek, which they used to bring the water down to farmers on the west side of the valley. The yellow paper certifies this original map was compared with a copy at the state offices in 1910. It’s interesting they were still doing this business as “Wasco County” two years after Hood River County was formed.

Under the yellow paper is the original 1874 diversion from Ditch Creek which started this irrigation system.
