Historic Hood River
Given how the snow is falling on Mt. Hood this winter this seems like an appropriate image. It’s from a group of images dated to “likely 1939.” Someone has suggested in a note this is on the loop highway. Another image in the group has a truck with USDA plates, which supports that theory.
Someone’s made a good attempt top identify the men trying to dig out a path on the highway. They weren’t too sure on the IDs or the spelling, but I appreciate the effort. The man to the left identified as “Roy Walters, I think!.” A little over, from rear to front are R.D. “Hen” Griffith, John Heimsoth?, and Henry Fischer or Fisher. The next man to the right is unidentified. Next is Leigh Oliver Sr. to the rear with “Lige” Elliot to the front (holding the shovel), and finally Art Ducharme to the right.
Does anyone know any of these men?
