Historic Hood River
Diamond Fruit Packing House
9-18-2024

Notes
This is appropriate for this time of year: the Diamond Fruit Packing House is to the right and the cold storage is to the left. Diamond Fruit is the successor to the Apple Growers Association (AGA) which was formed from several packing houses including Davidson Fruit Company.
Cold storage enabled the fruit industry to thrive in the Hood River Valley. Modern packing houses maintain perfect temperature and humidity so fruit can be stored for up to a year.
Note the little buildings at the edge of the lot. Perhaps that is worker housing?
