Historic Hood River
Demonstrator of Phrenological Sciences
3-24-2017

Notes
Another fine letter from the city’s archives. The handwriting is good enough that you should be able to decipher it. If you’re not familiar with phrenological sciences, in this era many people believed the shape of someone’s skull indicated all sorts of things about their personality and behavior. Phrenologists would feel your head and tell you what it indicated about your personality.
In case you’re wondering, the city recorder responded it would cost $12.50/year for him to offer these services in our fair city.

I am curious what the word occult meant in 1916.
In 2017 we live in a fairly open society and I am still not sure someone would put the word "occult" on their business license.
There is a Sherlock Holmes book, titled Rodney Stone.
