Historic Hood River
Crew at the Maxwelton Orchard Company

Notes
This may add a little information to the Monday photo. This photo also contains Hal Nesbit and Ed Dreske. It is described as “crew of the Maxwellton Orchard Company about 1918.” Note I will use the spelling Maxwelton. Newspaper accounts seem to prefer that spelling. The note taker in this case also wrote “Dreske” very clearly, so I believe this was Ed Dreske and not Ed Dresser. Ed Dreske lived from 1874 to 1924 and is buried at Idlewilde Cemetery, so we know the correct spelling of his name from his tombstone. What clinches the ID for me is that both images have the name “Gilbert” printed in the corner. Ed Dreske was brother to Gladys Reavis Gilbert. We have quite a bit of Gladys Reavis Gilbert material at the museum.
