Historic Hood River
“Crew at Parkdale Packing House”
9-24-2025

Notes
With fall harvest well underway, here’s a good view of the crew at a Parkdale packing house circa 1921. This group seems happier than many we’ve seen from the era. I think the man on the right has just told a joke.
There are a few names listed, though it’s hard to be sure of the spelling:
- Kate Forry Bruce
- Louise Forry Gordon
- Vernon Shoemaker
- M.O. Bol?
- Otto Ehrick
- Harry Routson
- “Andy” Brown

I see 2 familiar faces;
Kate Forry Bruce (front row, center, white blouse with black kerchief)and Eric Gordon (back row to the right of Kate)
I do not see Louise Forry Gordon’s face … (that’s the misspelled names above.)
Louise was my maternal grandmother and Kat her sister.
Arthur Babitz
Thanks, Beth, I will correct the spelling.

The woman in the front row, 2nd from left, wearing pants, is my grandmother, Alma Minnie Kitchel. I believe this photograph was likely taken 1917-1920. I’ve never seen it before. Thank you!
