Historic Hood River
Crag Rats Rescue
9-16-2025

Notes
This Dave Falconer image of a mountain rescue is part of the Crag Rats Collection. That’s Bob Sheppard to the left. Also pictured are Keith Petri (closest to camera) and Rob Hukari (sitting on the snow cat). Notes indicate the rescue was on the south side of Mt. Hood. From context I believe this was mid-1970s.
[Ed. note:Â the IDs have been corrected based on family member input]

I am going to take a wild guess that is a late 50’s to mid-60’s Tucker Sno-Cat made in Medford, Oregon

Rob Hukari is sitting on the Cat.
Bob Sheppard is far left.

I spy Mt hood Meadows decal on the cab.
Yes it looks orange like all the Tucker snow cats.

Thanks for the correction BethH. I’ll correct the IDs. Another reminder the notes on images aren’t always correct.

Aside from it being a fairly miserable day; was the rescue successful ? The men don’t look very happy with the situation! No snow on the mountain yesterday that’s for sure.
