Historic Hood River

This is the staff of the Cottage Hospital posing in 1910. There are multiple notes on the reverse indicating the year (1910), the photographer (Harry Wilson), the subjects (2nd from l3ft, Zena Craft, mother of Ann Westfall Chaperon from Portland as of 1990), and that Zena Craft’s diploma is at our history museum.

The Cottage Hospital was at 716 Oak Street. I was having trouble figuring out where they were standing relative to the hospital until I looked at this earlier image, which also shows the climbing rose trellis. I suspect the images were taken the same day. In this image we’re looking south from the west yard of the hospital, which is to our left. Those grand homes in the background are on the south side of Oak Street, while the hospital was on the north.
