The 1890’s were a golden age for studio photography, and Hood River has always had more than its share of talented photographers. The Museum has several portraits shot in this studio, though none are so distinctive. Perhaps W.D. Rogers was just advertising his services, or perhaps he was showcasing his artistic talents. The only thing we can be sure of is that he didn’t have to warn these subjects to “stay still” while he captured their likeness.

I get such a kick out of this picture. We’ve grown some pretty nice produce over the years – but I’ve never thought they warrented a professional photograph:) Maybe our prize cow – but corn??
