Notes
After extensive restoration, Cloud Cap Inn today looks very much like it did in the 1890’s when Anne Lang captured this view. Too bad the rooftop patio has been removed.
I believe that is Will Langille, longtime mountain guide, standing with climbing ropes. As everyone has alpenstocks they may have just returned from a climb to the summit.

Look at all those cables holding that structure down I have photos of my great-grandparents, grandparents and other family members actually climbing those stairs and standing on the observation platform.
Now stairs and that platform I would guess would be considered a liability for the public. If someone went up there and fell, that could cause a lot of problems.

That is strange about the tree. Wonder if they were cut to get a better view in that direction? Wind will form how a tree is, but that does not look like it is due to wind.

Prevailing wind direction causes windswept trees. Seen alot in the gorge….

I do not have any history of Clyde. But i can give his statistices
Clyde Temple Bonney b 09 jul1874 Waconda, d 05 oct 1931 sisters, Deschutes Co., Or.
H was married to Martha C Mays 1898 Hood River Oregon
They hda three known children.
Clyde was one of 5 children of Augustus Alva Bonney and Elizabeth Frances (Jones) Bonney. Augustus was born in Oregon but his wife was born in Indiana.
Augustus migrated west to Oregon from Ohio, with his parents Bradford Sherwood Bonney and Alzina Clrinda (Dimick) Bonney.

I notice the chimney has been completely rebuilt– none of the external stones match. Anyone know when they did that?
