OMG, can you imagine what tough conditions that would be, very hardy folks. Must have taken a couple years construction? When was the Inn finally completed? So they could sleep inside?

I think she’s holding another child, who was fidgeting too much for the camera to catch her head or legs.

Would this be the Cooper family? Didn’t they have tent resort before Cloud Cap was built?

And I would guess that the rifle was always kept handy to deal with bears and bobcats and cougars smelling the bacon.

This photo appears on page 84 of Jack Grauer’s first edition "A Complete History of Mount Hood". He describes it as "Cooper’s Tent Hotel – circa 1888" with photo courtesy of David Cooper, Jr. Grauer devotes several paragraphs to the "tent hotel", and describes it as being located in the "gully near Tilly Jane campground".
I used a crop from the photo for an article on Warren "Barney" Cooper on my blog a few years ago — I’m fairly certain the young man on the horse is Barney Cooper. Here’s the article:

Thanks Tom, I’ve seen this picture with the description of "Cooper’s Tent Hotel." I don’t have any information on who inscribed this one "Construction Camp" or when, so I don’t know which claim is more accurate. Hopefully someone can offer a more definitive answer about what this photo represents.

if this is Cooper’s camp, one of the very young children would be Mae Cooper who married Chester Walton and resided in Parkdale.
I am inclined to personally think this is Cooper Camp, my reasoning is that I would think it would have been basically men at the construction of the Inn.
Could this be what was also called "Horse Camp"?
