Notes
This nice clear Alva Day image shows great detail of what a Legion climber might choose to wear to the summit. His gloves look almost exactly like my welding gloves. I can almost make out some of the text on his tag, but not quite. I suspect it was his ticket for the Legion Climb as well as his name in case anything bad happened.

I always like to climb with a fountain pen in my pocket–gotta be prepared.

reminds me of the purpose of my dog tags….this tag however wouldn’t jam in the teeth well……

So this covers the men’s fashion, Arthur. Now you need find the companion picture of a woman climber from back in the day. It looks like his coat sleeve is cinched up, just a bit above the glove. I am wondering if this is the arm band we saw in the earlier photos, but I can’t really tell. The sleeve might just be bunched up.

My guess is the fancy pen main use was to sign in the " climbers log " stashed on the summit and then be able to share with others this pen also was on " Top of Mt.Hood " once back down in the valley.

Interesting strapping tucked inside his coat. Also the rope on the ground doesn’t look good enough for anything but securing loads on a pack-horse. Windy day!
