Notes

This is one of our precious Anne Lang negatives from Cloud Cap Inn. I believe the man to the left is Will Langille, climbing guide at the Inn. It’s hard to believe this was their climbing gear, though I guess a parasol would help protect from the harsh alpine sun.

It looks like Anne Lang directed everyone to look in a different direction before she released the shutter.

    It's a beautiful image.

If those women can climb in long dresses, just imagine the shoes they must have worn, and probably soaked through by the time they return.

I have a hard time believing these people are dressed for climbing in the snow. I don't have a hard time believing these people are using climbing gear as props for an otherwise staged picture on a trail near CCI. It's hard to tell, but Will's boots don't look like climbing boots. The boy is wearing a neck tie. Maybe they were in their Sunday best for a Sunday climb?
