This is a nice portrait of Samuel and Emma Blythe’s daughter Clara (second from left), but I’m more interested in all the bottles on the makeshift bench in the background. I wonder if maybe they were getting a chemistry lesson, or perhaps those bottles contain chemicals for the photographer’s studio?
Clara was born in 1880, so I’m guessing this image dates circa 1890.

The "kepi" on the first little boys head I find interesting? Wonder if that was a real Civil War cap, or reproduction.
Those shoes with such high tops had to be quite warm in the summer I would think. Not acceptable to run around barefooted like we did growing up around here.

If they wouldn’t have made us put on shoes to go to church once a week, maybe some of us wouldn’t have grown up being so averse to church attendance in our adult years.

I suspect one of the boys is Clara’s brother Edward?

At this time, where would the Blythe children be attending school? Frankton?
