Who said kids used to be tough? In the 1920’s these wimpy kids needed a shed to cover their play area so they wouldn’t get wet and muddy. I thought the covered play area was a modern invention!
Do you think they used hurricane ties to hold down that roof in the wind?

Pine Grove had a play shed. It is still there….. It was about half the size of this one though.
Nice to have on a rainy fall or spring day and we used to play in there a lot. At one point in time the slide was inside the play shed. I don’t know, but maybe they moved it in there when the rainy season bagan in the fall and returned it out side in the spring.

Teachers loved them. It meant the children could get some outside time and fresh air without tracking in all the mud and snow.

We had no covered play sheds but this reminds me of the well used covered bike sheds at each school ~

We got a play shed at Park Street School about 1949 or 1950.

I used to farm the orchard directly east of the Central Vale school, but i cannot orient that structure. The cattle could be north of it in the Thompson field, but I don’t recall any orchard trees north of it, and what are those cattle doing in that orchard block, if indeed that bare hill in the background is the old rattlesnake den? Are you sure this is Central Vale?
