Historic Hood River
Centennial Parade
1-11-2022

Notes
This is the Elks float from the Oregon Centennial parade on a cold slushy February 14, 1959. We don’t have many images of downtown from this era, so I frequently use the set of Centennial parade slides to catch a glimpse of the backgrounds. In this case we see “Lang’s Super Cream” which I’m guessing is a soda fountain, and “Mode O’Day” which sells women’s dresses, lingerie and hosiery. I believe the next building to the east is the JC Penney store.
We saw other views of the parade here and here.

Your guess is correct. Lang's and Mode O'Day are now Waucoma Bookstore.

You can see part of the sign for Young's Bakery on the window under the Super Cream sign.
