Historic Hood River
Centennial Celebration
10-19-2022

Notes
While the Columbia River Highway had a huge dedication ceremony in 1916, it wasn’t until the summer of 1922 the last pavement was laid somewhere near Rowena, marking the official completion of the highway. We’re planning a nice celebration of this centennial this Saturday in the Dalles. I’ll be there making a few remarks. Come and check it out! You can drive the old highway from Mosier to the Dalles or ride your bike from Hood River, then tour the wonderful new murals right near the venue.
This image is from a hand painted glass slide which was part of a set used on the lecture circuit to share the wonders of the Columbia River Highway.
