Do you remember these folks? We met them a while back in one of my favorite Alva Day photographs. Now we learn a bit more about them from a newly acquired print by Alva Day. It turns out they were visitors from Colorado. The 1919 Colorado license plate and the “Denver” pennant give that away. We also learn how they deployed the tent on their running board for some shelter. My guess is the kids slept on the car seats and Mom and Dad slept in the tent.
Driving from Colorado to Oregon in a late teens Model T was a serious adventure!

So…in the previous photo, maybe they are getting ready to head back to Colorado?
I wonder if they are in Alva Day’s backyard in this photo. You can see buildings in the background.

When I reviewed the prints with Dennis he did not have a name for these folks.

I don’t think it was Alva’s brother or sister. They had already left Colorado and were living here in Oregon.

longshot, I have only seen a database of motor vehicle registrations for Oregon and Nevada. I don’t know what information exists in the public record for Colorado.
