Historic Hood River
Campfire Stories

Notes
This isn’t the best exposure, but I bet it brings back memories of sitting around the campfire telling stories. This story circle was at Camp Yallani sometime on the 1960s. Camp Yallani was the Campfire Girls camp next to Kingsley Reservoir. I’m sure there were some camp traditions built around this fire ring– please share your memories.

Evening campfire in the meadow below the main camp – by the Craft cabin (in this era anyway- I think the balcony cabin was also the craft cabin one year while I attended)
Excited campers- lining up by the lodge, walking and singing our way down the hill, past the “owls nest” cabin and the double seat outhouse! – “we come, we come to our council fire….” lots of singing, story telling, skits, laughing, friendships. A “snipe hunt”!
Hold on to your flashlight! You have to get back to your cabin!

What as the plastic product we used to weave into key chains and other so very useful stuff?

Nowadays it’s called flat plastic lacing. It comes in a multitude of bright colors.
