Historic Hood River
Brush Fire Mop Up
8-25-2021

Notes
These volunteers from the Hood River Fire Department have just finished mopping up from a brush fire down by the Jaymar mill. It looks like they were able to stop the fire before it got into all that lumber. That’s a great Chevy pickup loaded up with all the hoses. I believe all those hoses would be brought back to the station to hang up so they would be dry before storage.
This Joe Young negative is from a group including this image which gives some more perspective.

That is my great uncle, Bob Vaughan, sitting on the ladder.

After consulting with former Fire Chief Bob Palmer, I think the man standing second from left by the ladder truck in the middle is Claude Parrott. Bob says Claude was for a time a paid firefighter with HRFD
