An attorney who works in the Smith Building (3rd and Oak) found this image in a desk drawer. Unfortunately the photographer didn’t focus the camera very well, but it’s still fun to see the 1950s era crowd watching the marching band. The first floor shop is the “Downtown Fountain Cafe” according to the neon sign. It looks like the American Red Cross offices are in the building behind the Smith Building.

I’m wondering if picture is a little earlier than 1950’s, maybe ’40’s. I don’t remember the Downtown Fountain Cafe at all. In the 1950’s I think Henni ? Wilson had a photography shop there. What appears to be an appliance shop was the Teamster’s office. I don’t know anything about car models; could those on street be a little earlier?
