“Commodore” O. C. Dean, Hood River’s preeminent ferryman for many years (1903-1919) enjoyed his hunting trips to Harney County. Dean is the third from the left. We’ve previously seen a view from this trip in this view. Circa 1910.

That’s an awful lot of birds to clean. I think that must have been an era when wild life, especially birds, seemed endless. Thank goodness mechanical toss of ‘birds’ was invented. I’d guess the bird population went back up.
