Historic Hood River
Bertha Madge Warren
5-11-2021

Notes
This image of Bertha Madge Warren, daughter of Elizabeth and Bernard Warren, looks to be circa 1900. I know hammocks are not a new invention, but you don’t see many of them in old photographs. This may be the only one in our collection.
We saw another picture of Bertha here, along with some more biographical information.

Something hanging in the tree behind her. Looks like a horse harness?
ArthurB
Good eye, LE. I think it is horse tack of some sort.
Alex Marvin
Looks like it's derived from an Indian blanket. You commonly see hammocks similar to this in Mexico nowadays.
JB
Probably a noose! This is Oregon afterall!
