    I don't know that this is their son Carroll, but I don't think I have ever seen him smiling in a photo, so I suspect this is him.

    I am somehow fixated on the footwear of people in these dated picutres.

    None of them look too comfortable or protective of the foot..Likewise this

    picture. of the Days' son. Talk about 'walk a mile in my shoes.”

    If you were to carry your entire camp for any distance with a frameless rucksack, you wouldn't be smiling either!
