Ann Pennington was an actress and dancer with quite an interesting biography. It’s well worth the read.  She signed this head shot for Art Kolstad, owner of the Rialto Theater.  I see at least 8 different films in which Ann Pennington starred promoted in the pages of the Hood River Glacier between 1918 and 1927.  I presumed the stars who signed photographs for Art Kolstad performed at his theater.  It’s certainly possible, but I cannot find any proof Ann Pennington visited Hood River.  It could also be the case these were simply promotional images sent to a theater owner.
