Historic Hood River
And to All, a Good Night…

Notes
We saw the Davidson House at 610 Oak Street earlier this month in this image. Denise McCravey sent this wonderful image of the house decorated for Christmas 2018 in response to a request posted on HHR. She tells me her mother, Lemora Joyce McCarty was the artist and designer. Denise and Antonio Alvarado were the helpers. I can only imagine how many hours go into decorating this historic building every year.
Sadly Denise’s mother has since passed away, but the tradition of decorating the hotel lives on. I can’t imagine there are any HHR readers who haven’t seen these decorations evolve over the years, but now you know who to thank for this heaping dose of Christmas spirit.
I hope you all enjoy the holiday with all your own family traditions. Make sure you take some photos so future family historians will know the roots of their traditions.

Thank you so very much for all the hard work that goes into making this such a wonderful ‘sense of place.’ Starting my day off with your newest posting is such a part of my day.

Thank you to all who contributed to making this house come alive in Christmas splendor.
Thank you Arthur for a HR history moment, back to this home in 1909 to one hundred and ten years later.

When my aunt Linda Moilanen LaBounty graduated from Odell High School in 1944 she got a job with Mr. Frisby and rented a room in this home. I think she told me her rent was $15.00. She passed away last year at 92.
