Historic Hood River
This one took a little research. You’re looking at the construction of the Apple Growers Association facility on Columbia between 6th and 4th, which now houses Full Sail Brewery. This is circa 1925.
You can see the Hood River Creamery at the SW corner of 6th and Columbia, and the building next door (NE corner 6th and Columbia)we previously saw as the L. E. Ireland fruit warehouse, which AGA purchased in 1921. Prior to 1916 it was an auto garage.
The wooden building across the street is the early Tum-a-lum lumber company, which must have been handy for this project. There’s an awful lot of big beams in this building.
Check out the loose stack boulders and the terracing of the site. I guess those horses didn’t want to haul the boulders out of there. I wonder if they’re still there (the boulders, not the horses)
We’re looking WSW, from a spot north of Columbia roughly on the grid for 5th Street.
