Edna Plog sent this postcard of their Mt. Hood climb to “Marfy.” She identifies the climbers as: (l-r) John, Bobby Clark, Zack Annala, Sis (Olga Plog), Charlie Gunn, Will Kemp, Edna, Bill Haskins.

Edna Plog married Oliver Hart and her sister Olga married Harold Hague. Zachary Annala was the son of John Jacob Annala and Elizabeth Wilson. Zach as he was known worked in the old Apple Growers Assn. office in downtown Hood River.
Bill Haskins is somewhat of a mystery. The Bill Haskins I know , of died in 1917 and was born in 1899 in Minnesota. Can’t really tell by looking at photo if this man is young enough to be him. If so this means we can somewhat date this. So this man leaves a big question mark.
I always notice the black faces to serve as the eras sun block. I can vaguely remember my Dad using it, but seems he just kind of put it under his eyes and he used Pond’s lotion to remove it.

The Hood River Glacier – Aug 9 1917 – has an article about the climb with a list of these same people. I found similar news through Myheritage.com. Sadly, it may be deduced that this is the same Bill /Will Haskins that died of abscesses in his lungs, thrombosis of the sinus and edema of the brain November 1917.
