Orchestra Now Complete
Since the purchase of five new stringed instruments this summer, Hood River high school orchestra has had its first complete string section. The new instruments include one bass viol, two violas, and two cellos. The orchestra plans to give a concert sometime this winter.The band seems to begin every year with a pleasanter discord, but this doesn’t mean it won’t be ready for the football season. Mr. Donald Wunn, band instructor, plans to have some new marches and popular tunes ready for the coming season. Although the band lost many of their key players, these are replaced by younger ones.
Saying they begin every year with “a pleasanter discord” is certainly a charming way of describing the sound of a high school band at the beginning of the school year.
Donald Wunn’s college alumni newsletter indicates he directed this band from 1939-1942.
