Historic Hood River
A Century of Wonder: 100 Years of Oregon State Parks

Notes
In celebration of the centennial of the state parks system in 2022, the Oregon Historical Society commissioned photographer Peter Marbach to capture the beauty and geographic diversity of these spaces, some quiet and some bustling with visitors. From Vista House in the Columbia River Gorge to the crashing waves at Shore Acres State Park to climbers ascending a wall at Smith Rock State Park, this exhibition highlights numerous ways that the Oregon State Parks system has preserved natural and historic sites for Oregonians and visitors to appreciate for many years to come. The 60 images Marbach captured for this project have been added to the Oregon Historical Society’s permanent collection, furthering future understanding of the past by documenting the present.
This collection forms the basis for a traveling exhibit titled “A Century of Wonder: 100 Years of Oregon State Parks.” We will be kicking off its stay at our museum tomorrow (Wednesday, July 19th) at 6PM with an opening reception and a Hidden History lecture with the artist, Peter Marbach. Admission is free.
Refreshments will be provided by our generous sponsors, Full Sail Brewery and Grateful Vineyard, and sweet treats by Dough Darling will be available for purchase.

The photo looks like Rowena Loops…but the category and tags for this photo don’t make sense.

kmb, I was tagging this post about the event, not the photo. I’ll add a few more.
