We actually have two good group photos of the 1912 Hood River Heights baseball club. I shared this image 11 years ago, so the post is now also historic! I can match the manager, Bill Dunn as well as pitcher Charley Hart.
The backstop fence makes it clear this was taken at Columbia Field on Belmont Street, where the armory is currently located.

I remember my dad saying that mill towns often hired workers based on their baseball skills. Especially a pitcher.
Baseball really was a popular American sport.
