Historic Hood River

It’s fun to see where a simple image will lead us. This image bears the caption, “Mrs. Joseph E. Kirk, whose wedding occurred at Hood River Tuesday. Please return to the Glacier Hood River.”
From previous research we know it was likely this image was sent to the Sunday Oregonian for publication. Mrs. Joseph E. Kirk was Edna Holman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Holman, who owned this store in the Heights.
In 1922 Edna Holman was honored as she departed to study at Simpson Bible College in Seattle. The officiant was Joseph Kirk, son of local pastor W. P. Kirk, who earlier in the day performed baptisms at Koberg Beach. W. P. Kirk was pastor at the May Street Christian and Missionary Alliance church in the Heights.
Two years Edna Holman has returned to Hood River and offers a guest sermon at Kirk’s church.  Soon after W. P. Kirk was sent to the church in Santa Rosa California, to be replaced in Hood River by the pastor from the church in Bend, whose vacancy was filled by the young Joseph Kirk. It appears at that point Hood River was a more prominent post than Bend.
I can’t find the exact date Holman and Kirk were married, but by 1927 they were living in Oakland California and welcomed their first child.
