This image of Dr. Marian Frances Shaw at his home on Sherman Street at 9th is captioned “Mighty Hunter”. I have been unable to find any account of Dr. Shaw killing a mountain lion, but did learn in 1912 Hood River County paid $1.50 for coyote scalps and $2 for bobcat scalps.

Too small and furry for a mountain lion. And I’m not seeing much of a tail. Pretty sure that’s a bobcat.

What is background between the 2 buildings? It seems like everything would be downhill from 9th and Sherman but that looks like a higher hill and maybe even a bridge going off to left.

I am guessing that is two dollars wrapped around his neck. He would have trouble packing a mountain lion.
Dr. Shaw passed away in 1912. His dog Buster must have been lonely.
I am curious from where and how water came out of that stand pipe?

Dr. M. F. Shaw created a bit of news in 1912. In January 1912, Howard Isenburg had filed a suit against Dr. Shaw for alienating the affections of his wife Zelda Isenburg. In April of 1912, Dr Shaw married Zelda Isenberg. Then Dr. Shaw died October 1912.
