We know from his photo collection that Alva Day worked for Pacific Power for many years, and one of his jobs was traveling around the area trying to build the demand for electric hookups by showing people the modern conveniences they could enjoy if they hooked up the grid. This traveling exhibit truck shows the latest in electric irons, heaters, fans, and coffee urns, circa 1924.

Quite the set up and rig, but what really caught my eye was the landscape with nothing much in it about 1924.

Yes, the landscape is what first caught my eye and then I took the time to peruse the contents of the vehicle.
What a neat little truck.
Across the river you can see the community of Underwood which would have had its ferry phased out about now since the bridge was completed in 1924.

Just a note. Alva Day will be portrayed by veteran Cemetery Tales actor Aaron Nice in this years production. September 27th, 28th and 29th. Tickets go on sale next week.

I like how he chose the time of day that there would be the least shadows and very bright sun to reflect on all those shiny objects that every housewife wanted. Maybe this era is what led to giving homemakers kitchen appliances for birthdays, Mothers Day and Christmas. And in those days most housewives were indeed happy to receive such as appliance. The tradition has not died, based on ads we see every special day of the year.

The way Mt. Adams lines up, I think this is somewhere near May and Rand or 22nd. Definitely west of 13th.
