“The Drug Store”
3-17-2025

Notes
“The Drug Store” in Parkdale looks like it packs a lot into a small building. Not only could they fill prescriptions and supply over the counter need, they promise lunch or a sundae at their “modern fountain”.
This page also features the Parkdale High School and Parkdale Elementary School.

2 older sisters ran this drug store and lived upstairs. I don’t remember their names- they weren’t very friendly to us kids who would go in to look at the small toy section and the comic book rack. They watched us like a hawk- Don’t touch it unless you are buying it!- we could get soda, malts, milkshakes.
Dick and Lennie Mueller ran an antique and thrift store in this building for years- called it “ The Plain and Fancy”.
The Parkdale Elementary school is now the Parkdale Community Center. I think it was 1968 when they moved k-4 to what was the Parkdale HS. And kids were bussed to WyEast for HS.
The original school is not in this picture- it’s to the (west)left. The school shown was added in 1937. Again- right around ‘68 they took those 2 trees down
(I watched!) And built the flat top style building that is there now, serving k- 5.
Thanks, Arthur! For my trip down memory lane. We lived just to the right (east)of the school.
