Notes
This cabinet card of Clarence Brown bears more than the usual amount of information.. In addition to his name and date, the reverse tells us his hair was light brown, his eyes mid blue, he is wearing a blue coat with a white waist, he has a fair complexion and red cheeks.
We learned a fair bit about Clarence Brown in this earlier image. We also saw him playing in the snow at his Oak Grove home in this image.
W. E. Neff produced this cabinet card. His studio was responsible for many of the images we have from the 1890s.

Do I detect a slightly sad boy who must pose for the camera?
His eyes say it all!

Clarence appears not to be very happy posing for the photographer.
His eyes are revealing!

Arlen, Looks to me like a large polar bear skin rug.

That is certainly a “woe is me” look.
Clarence married. They had a child that was born and died on the same day and is buried at Idlewild. Clarence and his wife Florence divorced. After that he seems to have wandered around Oregon for a bit working as a hired man. He died at age 59 and is buried at Idlewild.
