This spectacular photograph of Chief Tommy Thompson, “The Salmon Chief”, is part of the collection of Archie McKeown photographs loaned to the Museum for the exhibit “Voices of the River” by McKeown’s granddaughter, Davinne McKeown-Ellis.  Morganne has interspersed McKeown’s photographs with testimony before the Celilo Fish Commission of 1949 by Wy-am-pum members who refused to cede their treaty rights to the Federal government for the Dalles Dam construction.  This is history anyone living in this area needs to know.  This exhibit shares it in a most powerful way.
