Historic Hood River
Snow Soon?
10-27-2023

Notes
Before you know it there will be snow in the air. If it’s like the first couple of years of the 1920s, there will be lots of it at river level.
That’s Ella May Davidson on the Columbia River Highway. I believe she’s at Shellrock Mountain. In those early years of the highway there were frequent lengthy closures of the highway because of avalanches, especially at Shellrock. It looks like the road has recently been cleared.

So….there must be a rock wall and power poles still buried, behind Ella May.

LE, thanks for digging up the “no snow” version of this view. I see one power pole sticking out above the snowbank on the right side.
