This snowball fight at Cloud Cap Inn in the 1890s was preserved for posterity by Anne Lang. The glass negative has some significant damage, but in this case it just makes it look like there are more snowballs flying. The reality is they probably froze in that pose for a few seconds in order to avoid blur in the image.
I believe that’s Bess Lang throwing the snowball.

That’s a good thing, since she is a girl.
This is more like a Davidson photo showing the subjects having fun.
This week’s series of photos encourages one to do some research when they have time. The first Lang photo this week showed Dora Moody. There is some unrequited love story about congressman Malcolm Moody of The Dalles and the two Lang sisters. Bess Lang was his bookkeeper. He left his house to the Lang sisters.
Dora Moody is in the first photo, but I don’t know what connection she has to the Moody family.

Yes he owned and left the historic Roderick House to the Lang sisters. He never married as he was in love with both of them and couldn’t make up his mind as to which one he would marry. His father was also one time governor of Oregon.
