Notes

I think this fills in the story about Mr. Marble’s association with the “evacuation” of Japanese and Japanese-American residents of the county. As County Agent he would have overseen the 4-H program, and these were all people he knew and worked with. He captioned this image “Present and former 4-H Club members evacuated.”

I’d be happy to add tags if you can identify any of these 4-H Club members.

My heart hurts that these innocent people can poise for a picture while in the midst of such a ghastly situation.

There is going to be a remembrance at Riverside CHurh on May 3rd and then a walk down to thetrain station. Includes an apology by the church membership.

Evacuated makes it sound like it was a favor, rather than a forced removal.

Nels, I will be there in spirit. Good for the Riverside Church folk. Arlen

I bet Homer Yasui would have been able to identify some of the members.
